| Audio Works Post Katrina: It’s been almost two years since Katrina swooped through changing all of lives forever. Some people have decided never to return for numerous reasons, some have been able to return and rebuild their shattered homes and lives, and some are aching to return and do the same, yearning just to “be home” again. Audio Works was lucky. Although the storm smashed some windows in the old location, it was five feet of standing water for several weeks that really destroyed everything... all the audio and computer gear, the art work on the walls, even every pen, pencil, and piece of paper the company owned was all destroyed by Katrina. I consider myself lucky because all the audio data, accounting information, and computer software was successfully backed up before Katrina blew through. And I had the proper insurance, so recovery, while not painless and unbearably slow, was not nearly as painful as others have had to endure. So I find Audio Works happy in a new environment, thanks to Larry Peter of AdSound/PowerPlant, when circumstances left his studio space available. Also thanks to Jim Land of Power Plant, who has done everything to make me feel at home here on Howard Avenue, and also to Stan Gelpi of Gelpi Productions, who helped me carry equipment up four flights of stairs when the elevator was out, and I had a session booked. A lot has changed. Since Katrina, new customers who discovered the services Audio Works provides. And a lot has stayed the same. It’s nice to be working with the same loyal customer base that helped to make Audio Works a success since it’s inception. And speaking of inception, Audio Works will celebrate it’s 10th Anniversary on September 1st of this year! It’s true: times flies when your doing something you enjoy.
